Shape & Color
What can we create when we let our ideas splatter the walls, brighten the darkness, or shift the shapes into something new?
“Reflejo de Frida”
Digital Art
Growing up I was fascinated by Hispanic figures and stories. I rarely saw people of prominence that looked like me. When I discovered them, it was as if a part of my heart was saying “There you are!” in a world where I never saw myself.
Frida Kahlo’s very being was juxtaposition.
While she approached her life in toughness, she was forced to gentleness due to her maladies. Naturally beautiful she rejected beauty norms.
In almost everything, she was defiant and contrary to what the world expected of her. There is a freedom in removing the restraints of the world and she did this so unapologetically.
“The Biggest of Bens”
Photography
I caught this on the run while rushing through London in 2022. The real day was overcast but bright. The streets bustling with people moving quickly on their way.
I could have easily told that story, but I liked this story better. An ominous figure standing alone reminiscent of an older time. Dark and foreboding. The light ever so slowly peeking out to begin the day. It seemed like this was just the beginning of a wonderfully dark story with twists and turns and hidden mystery.
“Fruitfullness”
Design
For this, I just wanted a simple way to remember and see the fruit of the Spirit. I liked layering and blending this because the fruit of the Spirit (found in Galatians 5:22-23) blends together, overlaps, and layer within each other. I think this is a subliminal way to show that.
